Popular Culture Studies is concerned with research and teaching of the culture of everyday life in its present, historical, social and media dimension. This also includes popular texts in various media forms. The connection between research and teaching is central to the understanding of science in Popular Culture Studies. Project-oriented, practical and empirically sound work prepares the students for a wide range of professional fields. Popular Culture Studies offers Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programs for around 500 students.
The transfer of knowledge is a matter of concern to Popular Culture Studies. With regular events such as conferences, workshops or exhibitions, the staff and students of Popular Culture Studies enter into a dialogue with the public as part of their research and teaching projects.
