Short bio

Willemijn de Jong is a researcher and has taught anthropology as an associated professor at the Institute of Social Anthropology and Cultural Studies (ISEK), University of Zurich. She also taught at the Universities of Bern and Vienna. During her employment of about thirty years she supervised numerous students’ research work. For the national and international research projects she headed she was awarded grants by the Swiss National Science Foundation. Her publications concern: migration and communication in Switzerland; textile work and textile art as well as rituals and political transformations in Eastern Indonesia; aging and social security in Kerala, India; and reproductive technologies and family in Switzerland. In recent years she also was a guest curator at the Museum der Kulturen Basel.
