Short bio

Annisa is a lecturer and postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Social Anthropology and Cultural Studies at the University of Zurich. She holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Melbourne, Australia. Her research brings together three interconnected areas: environmental governance, agrarian change and socioecological transitions; citizenship, social inclusion and women’s collective action; and future-making, particularly how individuals and communities imagine, experiment with and create alternative futures in response to environmental, economic and social transformations. Annisa leads the OFFGRID Rural Indonesia subproject. Her research examines how gender and class relations shape people’s experiences of decentralised renewable energy and the possibilities for a socially just energy transition.
