Short bio
San Yi is a research fellow in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Zurich. Her research investigates the intersection of feminist affects, collective emotion, and visual affective strategy in contemporary political movements for social change, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Annuska Derks.
Since 2014, she has accumulated over 8 years of experience working with international NGOs, including the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), The Asia Foundation (TAF), and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). As a social development practitioner and researcher, she is dedicated to advancing humanitarian efforts, development, and peace in Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Southeast Asia.
San Yi holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Reading, United Kingdom (UK).
