Short bio

Tanja Luchsinger worked as an assistant at the chair of Prof. Dr. Johannes Quack from 2019 till late 2025. She completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social and cultural anthropology at the University of Zurich. She defended her PhD thesis titled Inbetween: Individual Experiences of Multiple Belonging in August 2025 and remains affiliated with the University of Zurich. Her PhD project examines inbetweenness as an affective, existential experience, based on nine months of ethnographic fieldwork with three individuals living in Delhi. The dissertation moves beyond fixed categories of social identity to show how people inhabit, navigate, and emotionally experience multiple belongings and the tensions inherent in them.
