ISEK - Department of Social Anthropology and Cultural Studies Social and Cultural Anthropology

Career Perspectives

It is our aim to prepare students for an academic or occupational career. Those who graduate in social anthropology at our department are very well qualified for the job market, as they are trained to carry out research on complex issues even under difficult conditions; they will have acquired broad knowledge and a wide range of methodological skills in social anthropology; and they will have become adept at analysing complex situations into which a variety of actors bring their perspectives. Moreover, throughout the MA programme particular attention is payed to communicating research results effectively.

Our graduates find jobs in many different fields, at NGOs, in journalism, development agencies, social work, banks, consulting companies, public services, museums and cultural institutions as well as universities.

For comparison, discover where graduates from the Universities of Freiburg i. Breisgau and Munich found their jobs.
