Gin-Young Song is a PhD candidate at the Department of Social Anthropology and Cultural Studies of the University of Zurich. She works on the contemporary popularization of coffee and coffee shops in Seoul. She is interested in the anthropological study of transculturality, space, and food practices. She studied Historical and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Tubingen (Germany) and German Language and Literature and Religion Studies at Ewha Womans University in Seoul (South Korea).

  • From October 2013: Research and Teaching Assistant and PhD candidate at the Department of Social Anthropology and Cultural Studies of the University of Zurich (chair Prof. Dr. Bernhard Tschofen). PhD project on the contemporary popularization of coffee and coffee shops in Seoul
  • 2012–2013: Academic Associate at Ludwig-Uhland-Institute for Historical and Cultural Anthropology of the University of Tubingen
