Short bio

Thomas studied English Literature as an undergraduate at the University of Oxford and graduated in 2007. In 2010-2011 he studied for an MPhil in Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge, and in 2016 he received his PhD in Social Anthropology there. He is now a Lecturer in the Department of Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge and a Postdoctoral Researcher on the Roadwork project at the University of Zurich. His PhD research explored the significance of the domestic Bactrian camel in the political ecology of western Inner Mongolia, China. As part of the Roadwork team, Thomas is now studying road infrastructure in Inner Mongolia.
