Responsibilities

Since 2011 Georg Winterberger is the Executive Director. He is responsible for financial matters, for all kind of administrative and operational matters, and for the communication. He is the line manager of the administrative and technical staff. Furthermore he teaches classes and is doing ethnographic research.


Research

Georg Winterberger is currently researching on an economic anthropological topic concerning the current transition in Myanmar in Southeast Asia. He is interested in the impact of this transition on the locals and on their livelihood strategies. The research question is: How does the population in Myanmar deal with the rapid economic opening and change of the country?


Short Bio

Georg Winterberger studied Social and Cultural Anthropology, Science of Religion and History at the University of Zurich from 2005 to 2010. He conducted research for six month in 2008 on the user perception of the quality of care in the Hospital of Manyemen in the Southwest Province of Cameroon. He got further qualifications in project management and public management (he possesses a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Public Management). He thought classes in research methodology, technics of academic reading and writing and in other regional and thematic courses. Georg Winterberger got involved with the Association of the Non-Professorial Academic Staff of the University of Zürich (VAUZ) as co-president and he was the former president of actionuni the midlevel staff, an association of research staff at Swiss universities.
