Short bio

Annelies Kuijpers is from the Netherlands and has done her studies at the University of Amsterdam. She graduated (master) in 2010 in anthropology. During her studies her regional focus was on Turkey and her master research was concerned with the national security course (a course given by the army in high school in Turkey) and its influence on perception of the army among students in Istanbul. As a student she has also been assisting in a comparative research on 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations Alevi`s in the Netherlands.

After graduation she was a teacher for three years in anthropology at the University of Amsterdam where she taught an introduction course to anthropology and methods of research.

Since September 2013 she has been working at the UZH. Here she is a research fellow in the project  “Development and Trust in Upper Mesopotamia: Social Impacts of GAP (Güneydoğu Anadolu Projesi)” Her focus in this project will be on kinship- and reciprocal relations.
