For more information, please read the provisions of the General Outline of Rights and Responsibilities for holders of junior academic positions of the Faculty of Arts of January 25, 2005 - this document unfortunately is only in German but you will find further information here: http://www.grc.uzh.ch/phd-postdoc/PhD_Guide_en.pdf.
Applicants should hold an MA or PhD, depending on the type of employment, in anthropology or a related discipline. The regional focus of the chair is on Central and Inner Asia but other specializations are also welcome.
Employment is 60 % for junior and 75 % for senior positions following cantonal guidelines. Accordingly, you will teach two or three classes per year respectively. For a start, the employment is limited to three years and may be extended up to six years on the basis of a positive evaluation. The position offers attractive working conditions and a competitive salary.
Applicants do not have to speak German as the study programs are partly in English. But we expect people who work with us for a longer period of time to learn German to a certain degree.
A dynamic, innovative and challenging research and teaching environment, an excellent opportunity for further qualifications, and a motivated and team-minded faculty interested in academic exchange. PhD students have also the opportunity to join the „Swiss Graduate Program in Anthropology“.
